Friday, 22nd August, 2014, 06:00 PM IST ‘Bombay Velvet’ is Anurag Kashyap's masterpiece in the making. The film features Ranbir Kapoor portraying a street fighter who grows into the role of a manager at a jazz club with the same name. Ranbir was waiting for the musical to open for audiences later in the year, but as per latest reports the film will not be unveiled before May 2015.
Anurag told a leading daily, “We have just realised that it will take us a long time to finish the VFX which we had not anticipated. I'm recreating a bygone era but I had not imagined that it needs so much of post production. I'm finally learning what it takes to make a big film.”
According to our source, though the shooting for the film has ended, only a quarter of the overall special effects are done. “The Mumbai you will see is very different from the city we know today. It will be January before the VFX is completed. Even the background music is still to be recorded,“ he added.
We’ve heard that Ranbir is unhappy with the film and wants to re-shoot a major part of it. However, when we spoke to him, he said, “We are very proud of Anurag's vision of ‘Bombay Velvet’ and want to put the best product out. The film's VFX is taking time and hence we have decided to move to May. We don't want to do a hasty job.” The film, which was initially slated for a Christmas 2014 release, had been brought forward to November 29. The move was made to avoid a potential clash with Raj Kumar Hirani's alien thriller, ‘PK’. |
