The audiences would get to see the reigning divas of the 90’s, Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla,  together for the first time on the silver screen.  Both of them would be seen sharing the silver screen for the first time in their common career span of 27 years.

Amrita Singh was earlier supposed to play Juhi’s role in the film, but after she opted out, Mushtaq, an associate producer on the film, came up with Juhi's name and set up a meeting with her at her residence. Surprisingly, Juhi showed interest.

Asked about it, Mushtaq commented, "The biggest challenge in Gulaab Gang was the casting. Once Anubhav Sinha, the producer, brought Madhuri on board, we started looking for someone who could fit the powerful antagonist. When I first suggested Juhi's name, the team was shocked. "

Mushtaq further added - "Juhi came on board purely on basis of the script. All she asked for was a narration. I knew once she heard the script she would not be able to turn me away. And that's exactly what happened."

'Gulab Gang', directed by debutant Soumik Sen and produced by Anubhav Sinha, is based on Uttar Pradesh's famous Sampat Pal's 'Gulabi Gang', which works for the upliftment of women. The film also stars Mahie Gill, Shilpa Shukla and Tannishtha Chatterjee.

The flick is slated to release on 7th March 2014, which also happens to coincide with International Women's Day
