Madhur Bhandarkar’s CALENDAR GIRLS Gets Pushed To 25th September

Monday, 27th July 2015, 4:32 PM IST Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Calendar Girls’ which was slated to release on 7th August has been pushed to 25th September. Even this release date is tentative and the final date is not yet locked. The reason for the postponement is a fight between Madhur and CBFC. CBFC has asked a few changes in the film and the director is not willing to make it. Madhur is planning to approach the revising committee. A source said, "The film has been passed with an 'A' certificate and Madhur is fine with that. However, he is not fine with the 'mute' button that Censors have pressed for words like 'bit$h', 'wh$re', 'fu$k', 'saa!a', 'saa!i' and 'har$$mi'. Rough language goes with the stage and setting that the characters find themselves in, and it is a part of the narrative. Moreover, it isn't as if these words are used a dozen times in the film. It is all sporadic and is heard where it is really required." The director’s argument is that since the film has been given an ‘A’ certificate, audiences expected to see the film are mature enough when these words play. "This is the reason why he is planning to take the film to the revising committee. This means that there is no way the film can make it to the August 7 release deadline that was earlier set. Since the process may well take some more time, Madhur felt that it was better for the overall marketing and promotion of the film to have the releases pushed ahead," the source added.
