Tuesday, 28th July 2015, 1:46 PM IST Music Composer: Vishal Bhardwaj Lyricist: Gulzar After the disaster of ‘Action Jackson’, Ajay Devgn will be back on screen with Nishikant Kamat’s ‘Drishyam’. The movie which also stars Tabu and Shriya Saran will be hitting the screens on 31st July. The music of the film is out, so let’s see what’s there in store for us. The album starts with the track titled ‘Kya Pataa’. It’s a super slow number with a thriller kind of music However, it fails to impress us since such a slow tempo makes us feel sleepy. Gulzar’s lyrics are amazing, but Vishal’s below par music makes the track really boring. Arijit Singh’s voice however makes the track a bit better. Since the album starts on a disappointing note, the expectations are really less from the rest of the songs. Ratings: 1.5/5 Next comes in ‘Carbon Copy’, a sweet soulful number which is a bit better than the previous number. The music is calm, but the beats don’t bore us at all. Gulzar and Vishal’s combination work very well in this track. Ash King has sung the song wonderfully and his voice really helps the song sound better. Ratings: 2.5/5 Moving forward, we hear a high-on energy thrilling number ‘Kab Kahan Se’. The hook phrase of the song is same as the first track ‘Kya Pataa’. But except the hook phrase, other things are very different. The song is high-on tempo and it is far better than the other tracks. The rock music with a thrilling touch makes this song one of the best songs of the album. Gulzar’s lyrics are commendable and the voice of K.K. is just fantastic in the track. This one really impresses us. Ratings: 3.5/5 And the last track in the album is ‘Dum Ghutta Hai’. It’s a nice number with an emotional as well as gripping effect. Gulzar’s lyrics are mind-blowing and Vishal’s music in this one wins our hearts. But above all are the vocals of Rekha Bhardwaj and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The song is so perfectly sung that we feel that no other singer could have done justice to the track. Must say, while the album started on a disappointing note, it ends with a great track. Ratings: 3.5/5 On the whole, ‘Drishyam’ has some fantastic songs and some very mediocre Ratings: 2.5/5 Music Review By –
