Monday, 22nd September 1:43 PM IST ‘Sonali Cable’, starring Rhea Chakraborty and Ali Fazal, was all set to hit the screens on 10th Oct, but the film has been postponed to 17Th Oct. The release date of the film has been changed because the producer of the film, Rohan Sippy, wants Rhea to promote the film for some more time. However, Yash Raj Films, which manages Rhea’s work, has not yet allotted Rhea’s dates to promote the film. A source close to Rohan said, “YRF was informed in advance about this possible change of date; and in any case, small budget films need to be promoted. So we need Rhea’s dates, but YRF has not given her dates for a week. It’s unfortunate that they are doing this with regards to their talent working for another producer.” Rohan Sippy confirmed the news and said, “I don’t know if she can promote the film or not. But it’s strange that Rhea’s management is not reverting to us about her dates. Since she plays the title character, we can’t finalise the promotion schedule.” Rohan feels that young actors should promote their films well, so that they can come into limelight. “This helps their producers create visibility for them. I don’t understand how YRF can have double standards. Recently, they pushed ahead ‘Dawaat-e-Ishq’s release and I’m sure they expected Aditya and Parineeti to promote their film for some more time. It’s a given that a film has to be promoted closer to its release. Hopefully, we will get Rhea’s dates,” Rohan said. Talking about the same, Rhea’s spokesperson from YRF said,“While ‘Sonali Cable’ is a big and important film for Rhea, she has several contractual commitments that were finalised months in advance. ‘Bank Chor’,where she plays the lead opposite Riteish Deshmukh, is just one of them. She will do her best to promote the film and do all that is required of her.”
