But,finally a small film titled ‘Liar's Dice’ starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Geetanjali Thapa has made it to Oscars. The film is directed by Geetu Mohandas and talking about the film’s selection for Oscars she said, "I got a call from the ministry and was too stunned to react. I called up everybody I could think of to break the news to them, but as luck would have it, nobody answered." The movie revolves around a tribal woman, who is on a search for her husband, who goes to Delhi to find a job. Geetu recollects that the film was about to be shelved as no one was ready to produce it. "Nobody was willing to touch it as it wasn't 'mainstream' enough,"she said. When Geetu was asked whether her film will make it to the top five, she said, "I don't know about all this since it's a first time for me. I have done my job as a filmmaker; the rest now depends on the marketing team." |
