Wednesday, 15th April 2015, 3:29 PM IST Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who will next be seen in films like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Raees’, has turned producer with his brother Shamas Nawab Siddiqui’s short film ‘Miyaan Kal Aana’. The movie will be screened at Cannes this year. It will be screened at the festival in the Short Film Corner category, a non-competition section. The film tackles the issue of Halala law in Islam and questions its treatment of women. According to a Muslim law if a man wants to remarry his divorced wife, the wife has to get married to another man and then take divorce with him and then marry her first husband. Shamas said, "This law is strictly enforced in my village and it bothered me a lot. I felt that the best way to address the issue is through a film. The fact that it’s made it to the Cannes festival is the icing on the cake." When he was asked why he didn’t cast Nawaz in the film, he said, "No, he's produced it and that's enough. I haven't dabbled in direction before and I'm grateful to Nawaz for supporting me."
