Monday, 19th May 2014, 01:25 PM IST After Narendra Modi’s legendary win in the Lok Sabha elections against the ruling Congress party, a minor controversy erupted on the social media revolving around Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
A set of people have claimed that Shah Rukh had threatened via tweets to leave the country if Modi wins the Lok Sabha elections. This is creating havoc among SRK fans. However, we have it for a fact that SRK never made such a remark. Readers would remember that way back in 2011, when a reporter asked SRK whether Modi would go on to become the Prime Minister of the country, he said “I can be in trouble in both cases if I say something good about Mr. Modi or bad. People would not allow me to leave Surat, please don’t ask questions on politics.”
It all started with actor-producer Kamaal R Khan’s infamous tweet that said, “So I am leaving India forever as I promised.I don’t know if SRK n others will keep their promise but I will keep.” Soon after,a fake morphed image of SRK’s tweet went viral on social networks.
This was followed by a clarification issued by BJP’s Varanasi wing saying, “Be aware guyz @iamsrk never said anything about#Namo (Narendra Modi), it was mindless KRK. So don’t RT & share wrong things about SRK.” Contrary to the rumours, Khan actually posted a positive tweet on the day of the election results. The tweet read, “What a solid mandate given by the ppl. It proves again that the only constant is change. Now, to move forward with strong & active faith, India.” |
