Thursday, 21st May 2015, 2:58 PM IST Dhanush, who was last seen in ‘Shamitabh’, has invested in a Tamil children's film titled ‘Kaakka Muttai’, or ‘Crow's Eggs’. The film bagged two National Awards this year. Vetrimaaran had found the perfect script, but was not getting a producer to back the film. He told his writer Manikandan to make a second draft of the screenplay, so they can get a producer. "It turned out to be an even better story and gave me the confidence to pick up the phone and call up Dhanush, who asked me to mail him the script immediately." recalls Vetrimaraan, who is also the co-producer of the film. Dhanush was in Delhi shooting for ‘Raanjhanaa’ and in 15 minutes he called back Vetrimaraan and told him that he has read only 10 pages of the script, but he is producing the film. When the director was asked why he opted for a title like ‘Crows’ Eggs’, he said, "Slum children eat crow's eggs for nutrition yet nobody respects this common bird. It's the exotic birds which fascinate all. The film is basically a critique on our approach to globalization." The film won two National Awards for Best Children's Film and for Best Child Actor, which was shared by the two leads of the film, brothers J Vignesh and J Ramesh.
