Monday, 25th August, 2014, 05:00 PM IST Director Shashanka Ghosh is currently busy adding the finishing touches to his Sonam Kapoor starrer film ‘Khoobsurat’. When quizzed if he is stressed about the inevitable comparisons between his film and Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Rekha starrer of the same name, he said, “Why should I be?” adding, “If I were to go out on the street and ask an average guy between the age of 18 and 25, would he have seen Rekha’s ‘Khoobsurat’?”
Talking about the film, he said that when he took the film to Disney India, he was asked to pick any title for the film as it did not have any similarities with the original. But considering that producer Rhea Kapoor has bought the remake rights of the original film, he decided to keep the title intact. He said, “Since Rhea (producer Rhea Kapoor) had officially bought the remake rights, we decided to go ahead and call it ‘Khoobsurat’. It adds to the curiosity value.”
When asked why he decided to cast Sonam for the role, he replies saying, “She was good even in her debut film, ‘Saawariya’. The fashionista tag overrides Sonam's acting talent. My film will showcase her range of emotions.” ‘Khoobsurat’ starring Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan will hit the screens on September 19. |
