Friday, 9th May 2014, 06:40 PM IST The unit of filmmaker Neeraj Pandey ran into trouble after they allegedly failed to pay dues of Rs 25 lakhs to a Nepali film management company during the shooting of upcoming film starring Akshay Kumar. "We have not detained anyone. We have called both the parties to reach an understanding," Abhi Narayan Kafle, Deputy Superintendent of Nepal Police at Gaushal Beat said. "The Nepali side seized the shooting material claiming that the Indian side had failed to pay some due amount, so we have brought both the parties to the police station. We are trying to find a common ground," added Kafle. Akshay Kumar apparently left the city on May 7th after completing the shooting at various locations in Kathmandu. Chairman of the film management company Ice-fall Adventure Pvt Ltd, Ram Krishna Pokhrel detained the shooting materials after the unit reached Tribhuvan International Airport to fly to Turkey via India without clearing his dues. Pokhrel claimed that the expenses of the shoot were around Rs 95 lakhs and they had received only Rs 70 lakhs. The film unit sought Nepal Police’s help soon after, claiming that they missed the 7 am flight on May 8 and it resulted in more financial loss for them. They told the police that they made an arrangement where they were leaving one of their team members in the city to clear the dues, but Ice-fall rejected their proposal. The two parties haven’t reached an agreement as of yet. The film is about two smugglers who fool people in Mumbai and start a new business in Kathmandu. |
