Friday, 16th May 2014, 03:15 PM IST When filmmaker Ekta Kapoor walked into Juhu's Prithvi theatre last year to watch the play ‘Hero’, she wouldn’t have thought she would find the main lead of one of her upcoming films. By the time the curtains came down, she knew that Siddharth Gupta was the perfect choice for ‘Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi’.
After many auditions, Siddharth beat Paresh Rawal's son Aditya and Huma Qureshi's brother Saqib to land the role.
Ekta had no idea that Siddharth is the younger brother of Vikas Gupta who has worked with her earlier and now is the programming head at a music channel.
In his debut film, Siddharth plays a guy from a lower middle class family, who feels he is jinxed. Said Siddharth, “Uskabad luck bahut strong hai, issi liye uski jhand hoti rehti hai,” before adding further, “I wanted to become an actor so I joined a theatre group and landed a three-film contract with Balaji.” |
