Detailed Analysis:
Anant Mahadevan has given some interesting films. 'Aggar' and 'Aksar' were thriller and 'Red Alert' and 'Staying Alive' were off beat cinema. Now he is back with another multi starrer thriller mystery with really interesting casting. Film has very spicy plot set in 60's of Bollywood. Two rival actresses Zara (Sonali Raut) and Chandni (Zoya Afroz) star in two different films titled 'Ujjwal Sheetal Nirmal' and 'Reena Mera Naam'. Zara falls in love with Ravi Kumar (Himesh Reshammiya) during shoot of the film when he saves her from fire on set. Ravi Kumar is superstar from south and making his debut in Mumbai. His character is based on yesteryear star Raajkumar. He is ex police officer and has a lot of attitude in addition to heavy humorous dialogue for every occasion. His step brother (Adil Hussain) is a goon. KD (Yo Yo Honey Singh) is double faced music director who is having affair with Zara but marries top actress Shabnam (Jesse Randhawa). One fateful night in post award party, Zara falls from top of the building and dies. Police declares its a murder and here starts a murder mystery where every one has one motive to be a killer.
Editing is crisp which keeps it tight in running time of 113 minutes and cinematography and art work are rich that one feels transported to era of 60's. Writing is inconsistent where dialogues are outstanding but screenplay leaves you asking for more at the end. Climax could had been better. Special mention for casting director Kunal Shah (Cast on Time) who brings together such amazing medley of actors. Casting is easily one of the best aspect of the film. But yes its director Anant Mahadevan who again delivers a decent thriller but it could had been better especially the climax. Film entertains you and makes you clap, smile and engage but still it could had been better with better songs, actresses and climax. Film will release tomorrow and should get good release. Film will get quite a stiff competition from Hollywood release 'Godzilla'. Film should open with low initials due to counting of votes on Friday but will surely get better numbers over weekend. Film is made on shoe string budget and that is why even a decent weekend will take it to safe zone.
