Monday, 12th May 2014, 04:10 PM IST Even though the makers of ‘ABCD’ sequel are trying to keep the film’s plot a well guarded secret, a little birdie told us that the dance drama is based on a true story of Vasai-based dance troupe, The Fictitious Group.
The film chronicles their journey from being a leisurely team of two, towards becoming a full fledged troupe with local street presence and finally entering the world hip-hop championship finals in Las Vegas in 2012– a first for any Indian dance group!
Latest buzz is, Varun Dhawan, who plays the male lead in the film, will be essaying the character of Suresh Mukund, co-founder of the troupe along with partner Vernon Monteiro. The actor has already started training with Suresh in various dance forms like B-Boying, Old House Hip-Hop and Locking and Popping.
A source close to the development revealed, “Remo instructed Varun to train in the dance forms. In fact, Varun recently injured himself while practicing, since these dance forms are difficult to master.”
The idea of making a film on The Fictitious Group occurred to Remo while he was filming the first instalment. The source further revealed, “Since a lot of it was choreographed by Suresh and Vernon's group, they happened to tell Remo their story which inspired him to bring it to the big screen.”
Suresh confirmed the news saying, “Remo sir has really helped us evolve as a troupe. Although we have been an active part of reality shows, a film has never been made on us. Now that he is doing it, we are fully co-operating with them.”
When quizzed if the character of Varun’s love interest played by Shraddha Kapoor is also inspired by any of their troupe members, Suresh said, “No, it's fictional. As a filmmaker, Remo is entitled to certain cinematic liberties to make the story more appealing. We're positive he'll do justice to portraying our lives on screen.” The first movie was well appreciated by the masses and we can’t help but eagerly wait for the next. |
