Back in the golden days of Hindi cinema, Raj Kapoor got away with a scene in 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram', when Zeenat Aman gave a glimpse of her bosom. But when Ananth Narayan Mahadevan recreated it in Himesh Reshammiya starrer ‘The Xpose’, he couldn’t get past the Censor Board.
The leading lady of the film Sonali Raut, is seen clad in a wet white saree in a song which recreates the famous scene from the Raj Kapoor classic. The Central Board of Film Certification has asked the filmmakers to clip the scene as it displays the actress’ modesty.
Rakesh Upadhyay, the film's creative producer, said, "I was told by the Censor Board that the mistakes made in the '70s should not be repeated."
Another scene in which former Miss India Zoya Afroz uses expletives against Sonali has also been snipped. The characters of the two actresses are reportedly inspired by Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman. The rivalry between the two yesteryear actresses exploded in several cat fights, including one at a city hotel when they almost came to blows. This incident, along with other real-life references, reportedly found its way into the film's script. |
