Wednesday 21st May 2014, 04:50 PM IST After Aanand L Rai announced that he will be making a sequel to his 2011 flick ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, the film has run into a legal tussle. Producer of the film Vinod Bachchan is planning on sending a notice to Rai. Incidentally, Bachchan had earlier moved court over the rights of the first instalment and now owns a 51 percent share of the film.
Bachchan told a popular tabloid, “Aanand is just the director. ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ is my property. How can he make my film's sequel without my consent?”
Co-producer Sanjay Singh who has also sent a notice to Rai, said, “Aanand is aware of my contract with Shailesh (Singh). He knows we are equal owners of the IPR of ‘Tanu Weds Manu’. Four months ago,he had tried to negotiate with me, but it was inconclusive. How can he talk about a sequel? I've sent a notice to him.” |
