Saturday, 28th June 2014, 05:00 PM IST ‘Riyasat’, Rajesh Khanna’s last film, will finally release on July 18th, on his second death anniversary. Producer of the film, Vijay Sirohi and director Ashok Tyagi, have been scouting for buyers for their film since the past two years.
Kaka’s co-star Raza Murad confirmed the news saying, “It's sad that the industry showed no interest in Rajesh Khanna's last film. Ashok and Vijay are not Mumbai based filmmakers and didn't know which distributors and exhibitors to approach. But now we can finally release the film.” He further added, “Rajesh couldn't walk up the stairs yet he never cancelled a schedule. He was visibly ill yet he continued to report for work till the film wrapped up.” The film will now release under the banner of Jai Viratra Entertainment. Director Ashok Tyagi revealed that Kaka had left a letter for him and Vijay which he wanted them to open only on the day the film released. He said, “That's another reason I'm eagerly waiting for July 18. After receiving the censor certificate last year, we put out an open letter in a trade magazine, asking support from the industry. No one came forward.” |
