Thursday, 26th June 2014, 04:20 PM IST Film associations like the Indian Motion Pictures' Producers Association (IMPPA) and the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) have approached Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to complain about the workers of Shiv Sena Chitrapat Sena wing.
Few members of the wing had barged into the sets of a film and demanded 6.5 lakh from the producers of the film. One of the film's line producers Parimal Sampat, who is also a member of the Sena's film wing, accomapanied the Sena workers and claimed that the film’s producers owed him the amount. They also threatened to beat up the producers if the cheques bounced.
“It was appalling. If political bodies continue to use muscle power, it will dissuade us from working in Mumbai and Maharashtra in general. But we're sure Uddhavji will resolve the issue,” said a member of IFTDA. TP Aggarwal of IMPPA added, “We don't want to go to the cops if matters can be solved internally.”
The film’s director Sanjay Chhel, gave the real picture by saying, “The workers stalled the shoot for over an hour while Parimal watched on. We had to succumb because we had to complete the shoot and had the location for only one shift. They forcibly clicked a picture with the producer holding the cheque and printed it in Saamna, Sena's mouthpiece, praising their bravado.”
Producer of the film Anil Bohra said of Parimal, “He's done little work on the film which is nearing completion. I approached the producers' body to resolve the matter internally and am ready to pay the amount stipulated by them." Whereas a member of the said wing of Shiv Sena said, “Parimal had spent Rs 8.5 lakh, which he needed to recover from the producers. We got Rs 6.50 lakh of this Rs 8.5 lakh. We have not done any vasooli. There's no point in involving Uddhavji in this.” |
